YKK Develops and Launches Snag-less Zippe for Thin Fabrics in China - Reducing the Rate of Snagging Compared to Conventional Zippers -

September 29, 2025

YKK Corporation (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Koichi Matsushima; hereafter, YKK), has developed and launched the “Snag-less Zipper,” which makes it harder for the fabric of futon covers and garments to be snagged in zippers, in China.
The key points of the Snag-less Zipper’s design lie in the technique of raising the fabric along the inner part of the zipper on both sides of the interlocking zipper elements, and in the modifications made to the shape of the slider which meshes and separates the elements . Internal testing using the thin fabric typically employed for duvets confirmed that the incidence of fabric snagging is reduced compared to conventional zippers.

This reduces unpleasant issues such as the zipper catching on the edge of the duvet cover, making it difficult to open and close, or the inner lining of a pocket getting caught, allowing for smoother and more comfortable use. YKK will roll out the Snag-less Zipper globally, strengthen its production system, and increase output.

YKK will continue to listen to customers’ voices, and through close collaboration among sales, development, and manufacturing teams, strive to deliver exciting fastening products to customers — including brand holders and garment manufacturers with whom YKK has direct business relationships, as well as end consumers who actually use YKK zippers, snaps, buttons, and other fastening items. YKK will continue to deliver fastening products to even more people all over the world.
