YKK Surpasses 10 Billion Annual Global Zipper Unit Sales in FY2024

April 10, 2025

YKK Corporation (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Koichi Matsushima; hereafter, YKK), surpassed the 10 billion annual zipper unit sales mark for FY2024 (April 2024 to March 2025). Ten billion zippers are equivalent to more than three million kilometers in length, or about 80 trips around the world.

YKK believes that one of its key missions is to deliver “better products at a lower cost and greater speed, more sustainably” around the world to as many people as possible, and conducts its business activities with annual zipper unit sales as one of its key management indicators.

FY2024 is the third time YKK has surpassed 10 billion zipper unit sales, after FY2018 and FY2021. The global market environment in FY2024, including the apparel sector, had few bright spots and many uncertainties. YKK believes that the reason it was able to surpass the 10 billion zipper unit sales mark, even in such a market environment, is due to its customers’ support for YKK’s unflagging efforts to meet market demand in terms of price, delivery times, and product availability, in addition to its ongoing commitment to quality.

Going forward, YKK will continue to listen sincerely to customers’ opinions, and with its sales, development, and manufacturing divisions working as one, it will continue to develop appealing products that are exciting for brand holders, garment manufacturing companies, and other customers with whom YKK has direct dealings, as well as for end consumers who actually use fastening products such as zippers, snaps, and buttons.
YKK will continue to deliver fastening products to even more people all over the world.
