YKK Sets a New Standard for Snap Buttons Introducing the Low-profiled Lightweight Snap: Achieving Unprecedented Thinness and Lightness Through Advanced Technology

January 13, 2026

YKK Corporation (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Koichi Matsushima; hereafter, YKK) announced that the launch of a product that sets a new standard for snap buttons: the Low-profiled Lightweight Snap (Item Code: SKL30), is available to the market.

Snap buttons consist of a visible top part (cap) and underparts (socket, stud, post). The newly developed Low-profiled Lightweight Snap features an ultra-slim underpart design and incorporates a plastic spring to ensure optimal functionality. Compared to the conventional Ring-spring Snap (Item Code: SK35), the new snap achieves approximately 16%1 reduction in thickness and about 14% reduction in weight, offering a flat, minimalistic appearance that enhances garment design and expands customer choices. This new product is ideal for activewear and other applications where thinness and lightness are essential.
