Enjoy the full breadth of window culture at YKK AP's "Windowology 10th Anniversary Exhibition: The World Through the Window", on show at the Spiral Garden (Minato-ku, Tokyo, JAPAN) until October 9.

Features the work of 12 artists, architects, and researchers, including Leandro Erlich, Takashi Homma, Michele De Lucchi, Yoshiharu Tsukamoto, and Taro Igarashi.

YKK AP Inc. is marking the 10th anniversary of its Windowology research program by holding an exhibition titled "Windowology 10th Anniversary Exhibition: The World Through the Window" at the Spiral Garden from Thursday, September 28 to Monday, October 9, 2017.

YKK AP is a member of the YKK Group*1, whose diverse activities include the manufacturing of fasteners and architectural products. In 2007, YKK AP began exploring windows from various viewpoints through Windowology, which revolves around the idea that "Windows represent civilization and culture". The program was expanded in scope with the establishment of the Window Research Institute in 2013.

The exhibition showcases the fruits of Windowology research from the past decade and invites visitors to think about and experience windows in a variety of different ways.
The exhibitors include eight university and institutional researchers, who have each prepared exhibits about their window-related investigations, and three artists--Leandro Erlich, Takashi Homma, and Yusuke Kamata--who have each created new window-themed artwork. Also featured is a special exhibit of artwork by renowned Italian architect Michele De Lucchi.

An international symposium titled "Windowology 10th Anniversary Symposium:Windows Represent Civilization and Culture" was held in conjunction with the exhibition on Tuesday, October 3. Twenty-seven distinguished experts came together to discuss windows throughout the full-day event.

YKK AP also marked this special anniversary year by opening the Window Research Institute Annex (YKK Izumi Building) on October 1. The new facility will be utilized to further promote the appreciation of window culture.
